Sawdust is a closed beta. This describes what the app collects, why, who it goes to, and how to get it back or have it deleted. It is written to be accurate about what the software actually does rather than to be broad enough to cover anything.
| Account | Email address, display name, handle. Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito; we never see or store your password. |
|---|---|
| Photos | Room photos you upload, and the redesigned images generated from them. |
| Projects | Project titles, notes, updates, plan steps, items and the prices you record, comments, likes and follows. |
| Device | A push notification token, if you enable notifications. |
| Moderation | Reports you file, and moderation decisions about content you posted. |
Photos of your home are the most sensitive thing here, and are treated that way. Every uploaded image is decoded and re-encoded before it is ever served, which discards all embedded metadata — including GPS coordinates that phones attach to photos by default. Originals are kept in a separate store with no public read path and are deleted within a day.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. Data reaches these processors because the product needs them to work:
| Amazon Web Services | Hosting, database, image storage, and image moderation. Data is stored in the United States. |
|---|---|
| OpenAI | Room photos are sent to generate a redesign, to identify objects in it, and to check submitted text against our content rules. |
| Serper | Product search terms, to find purchasable matches for items. No account data is sent. |
| Expo | Push notification delivery, if you enable notifications. |
Projects are private by default. Publishing is a separate, explicit action. An unlisted project is reachable by anyone holding its link. On a published project, other people see your display name and handle — never your email address.
Image links inside an export expire, so an export is a copy of what you had access to at the time rather than a permanent archive.
Project content is kept while your account exists. Unprocessed photo originals are deleted within a day. Where content has been reported or moderated, we keep the moderation record so the same decision is not re-litigated; those records do not contain your email address.
We send transactional email only — account verification and password reset. There is no marketing list. If a message to your address hard-bounces or you mark one as spam, your address is suppressed automatically and we stop sending to it.
Sawdust is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If this changes materially during the beta we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
